Carly Smith has a diverse work experience in various environmental and outdoor roles. Carly started as a Field Technician at ATA Aerospace, LLC. in 2019, where they participated in the SNOWEX project by NASA, conducting snow sampling analysis in avalanche-prone terrain. In the same year, they also worked as a Field Technician for Fort Lewis College, monitoring stream flow in Colorado basins and analyzing soil samples.

In 2019, Carly also served as a Student Outdoor Leader at Outdoor Pursuits, Fort Lewis College, where they led educational trips on topics such as Leave No Trace principles, ecology, forestry, and geology.
