An energy aggregator acts as a facilitator for energy trading and flexibility markets, serving as a conduit to connect energy producers and consumers to various opportunities. They have the capability to engage in agreements with entities like the National Grid Electricity System Operator to offer energy balancing services or capitalize on fluctuations in energy wholesale markets to optimize the value of generation and storage assets. Energy aggregators collaborate with a diverse array of resources, encompassing major energy consumers capable of adjusting their usage (referred to as demand-side response), generators capable of adjusting their output, and storage systems such as batteries capable of charging and discharging.
