In 2020, The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, set out regulations that an EPC is required to be publicly displayed at the entrance of all buildings that fall into the criteria for compliance.

Who may issue an EPC?
The EPC may only be issued by a SANEDI Registered Professional or a SANAS Inspection Body. EPCs for buildings are issued in accordance with the South African National Standard SANS 1544:2014.
