James Tu

James Tu is the current Chairman, CEO, President, and Interim CFO at Energy Focus. James has been with the company since April 2019 and has overseen a complete reorganization of the company. Under their leadership, the company has refocused its product management and R&D on advanced lighting control technologies and UVC air disinfection products. The company's patented lighting control system, EnFocus, has won "Top Product of the Year" from "Environment & Energy" in both 2020 and 2021.

Prior to their work at Energy Focus, James Tu was the Executive Chairman & CEO at another company from January 2011 to December 2017. During their time there, they led transformational initiatives that resulted in exponential growth for the company. James also divested and exited non-core businesses to reposition the company as a brand known for offering highly reliable and technologically advanced products and supreme customer services. James Tu led a total of $38M investment into the company during their time there and the company was successfully listed on the NASDAQ in 2014.

James Tu received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University and an MBA in Finance from Baruch College. James also has certification from the CFA Institute in Certificate in ESG Investing and Chartered Financial Analyst.
