Lance Petersen

Staff Assistant - Independent Living Unit

Lance Petersen possesses a diverse background in illustration, archeology, library science, and consulting. With experience as an illustrator and field archeologist at the Oregon State Museum of Anthropology from 1990 to 1995, Petersen has contributed to significant projects such as the illustration for information kiosks at the Great Lakes with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation since June 2011, and the creation of illustrations for the Crossings at Colonie Interpretive Exhibit with Hartgen Archeological Associates, Inc. in 2002-2003. As the owner of Gumbo Graphics (1988-1998), Petersen was involved in the Mail-Art movement, and later held positions as an archivist and researcher for various organizations, including public libraries and New York State Parks. Education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Oregon and a Master's in Information Science from the State University of New York at Albany. Currently serving as a substitute librarian at the Clifton Park Half Moon Public Library and as a site committee member for the Shaker Heritage Society, Petersen continues to engage in community and historical preservation work.
