Simo Thango

Simo Thango is an experienced professional in risk management and process engineering, currently serving as the Acting Manager of Risk Management and Assurance at Engen since June 2008. Thango has developed critical safety management processes, including the Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP) and Risk Register, to support the safety of Engen's operational sites. Prior roles include Senior Process Engineer in process safety, where risk identification and mitigation were prioritized, and support for various refinery units. Simo began the career at Umgeni Water as an Engineer in Training and has a strong educational background in Chemical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, complemented by management training from Stellenbosch Business School and the Graduate School of Business - University of Cape Town.
