Michael Kranz has been in the technology industry since 1998. Michael began their career at Stanley Associates as the Director of R&D, where they were responsible for directing the MEMS, fiber optics, electronics, and nanotechnology capabilities. In 2011, they became the Owner/CEO of EngeniusMicro, where they were responsible for strategic planning and executing programs for the company. Michael also implemented commercialization plans in the areas of micro sensors, wireless communications, sensor sheets, and disposable SERS chemistry enhancement substrates. As Principal Investigator, they were responsible for multiple MEMS and nano-scale development efforts, including piezoelectric and electroactive polymer acoustic sensors for structural health monitoring and impact detection, miniature cooling devices for high-power phased array radar, and MEMS inertial sensors for guidance and control.
Michael Kranz completed their Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Cornell University between 1992 and 1996. Michael then went on to obtain a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University between 1996 and 1998. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2004 and 2011.
