Leroy Chan

Principal at ENGEO

Leroy joined ENGEO in 2004 and has been practicing geotechnical engineering in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the past 10 years, he has dedicated the majority of his time focused on serving projects from San Francisco to San Jose. Leroy has been involved in many high-profile masterplan, waterfront, public facilities, and infill projects. His involvement in the design and construction of many projects allows him to develop cost-effective and practical solutions which has helped many clients. He is excited to be challenged with difficult issues where he can work with our team to find innovative solutions that fits project needs. Leroy has extensive knowledge of San Francisco Bay soil conditions and specializes in ground improvement and deep foundation engineering on sites with historic fill, liquefiable, and compressible soil.

“I always dreamt of being an architect when I was a kid. I appreciate unique architecture but also enjoy seeing how things are built. I ended up in engineering school in collage and never looked back on this decision. As a geotechnical engineer, every project is different where there is not one answer to a problem. This profession allows me to problem solve using the best science so that I can customize solutions for clients.”

Outside the office, you will find Leroy in the mountains of Santa Cruz shredding some brown powder on his bike and drinking beers with the boys after a 15-mile ride. Or, hanging with his kids at the bouncy house eating birthday party pizza.
