Stephen Colebourne

Stephen Colebourne is a highly experienced software engineer with a career spanning several decades. Currently serving as a Staff Software Engineer at Engine by Starling since September 2025, Stephen has held key roles including Project Lead at Joda.org since January 2000, where open source Java code is provided. Previously, Stephen was a Principal Software Engineer and Engineering Lead for the platform at OpenGamma, a London-based startup specializing in risk management software for the finance sector, from March 2010 to September 2025. Additionally, Stephen was a co-specification lead for JSR-310, enhancing Java's date and time libraries, and served as Software Architect for SITA's E-Commerce Platform. Earlier experience includes developing insurance applications at Royal & SunAlliance. Stephen holds a BSc in Physics from the University of York, obtained between 1991 and 1994.
