Geoff Chao is a seasoned geotechnical engineer and academic with extensive experience in both industry and education. Chao began as a Graduate Research Assistant at National Taiwan University in 1992 and later worked at Shepherd Miller, Inc. as a Geotechnical Engineer. Following this, Chao served as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Tetra Tech and at Engineering Analytics, Inc., managing numerous construction defect litigation projects. Currently, Chao holds the position of President at the Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society and serves as the CIE Head of Department and Associate Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology. Additionally, Chao has experience as an Adjunct Professor at Colorado State University, where courses in Foundation Engineering were taught. Chao's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering as well as a Ph.D. in the same field, all from Colorado State University.
