Stephanie Liva has over 15 years of work experience in the legal field. Stephanie began their career in 2004 as an Associate at Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner LLP. In 2005, they moved to Monsanto Company as an Assistant General Counsel. In 2014, they joined Indigo as Director of IP. In 2016, they took on two roles as Senior Director of Legal Affairs at VL40 and Senior Director, Intellectual Property at Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy. In 2018, they became Executive Director, Alliance Management, IP, and Licensing at Portola Pharmaceuticals, where they managed the trademark and patent portfolios and led IP strategy. Stephanie also ensured compliance with data privacy and data security laws. In 2020, Stephanie joined Calithera Biosciences as Executive Director & Senior Corporate Counsel, IP and Legal Affairs. In 2021, they became a Board Member at Active Motif. Currently, they hold two roles as General Counsel at Enko and VP and Associate General Counsel, Corporate Transactions and Legal Affairs at Instil Bio.
Stephanie Liva has a long history of education and certifications. Stephanie earned a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles between 1990 and 1994. Stephanie then went on to earn their Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the same institution between 1994 and 2000. In 2001, Stephanie attended Boston University School of Law and earned their J.D. in 2004. In the same year, they became a Licensed Attorney in the State Bar of California. Stephanie was also admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2006 and the Massachusetts Bar Association in 2016. Stephanie obtained their Patent Attorney certification from the United States Patent & Trademark Office in 2004. In 2020, they earned the Athena on Boards Certified certification from Athena and the Certified Information Privacy Professional/US (CIPP/US) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
