Simon Irving has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Simon is currently working at ENMAX as the Team Lead for Strategic Partnerships & Insights since June 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Technology and Partnerships Lead for Grid Innovation at ENMAX from July 2021 to June 2023. Simon also served as a Board Member at Newo Global Energy, a not-for-profit clean energy company, from January 2016 to June 2023, where they focused on promoting education, ecological stewardship, and community cooperation in solar installation projects. Simon was a Fellow at the Energy Futures Lab from January 2022 to January 2023. Simon's previous role was as a Program Manager at the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation from April 2016 to July 2021. Simon began their career at Alberta Health Services, where they worked as a Contract Analyst from July 2013 to August 2014 and as an IT Contract Management Intern from May 2011 to August 2013.

Simon Irving completed a Bachelor's degree in Management and Economics from the University of Alberta, which they attended from 2009 to 2013. Simon then pursued further education at Uppsala University, where they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) with Honours in Business and Economics with a specialization in Sustainability Studies from 2014 to 2015. Later, Simon attended Simon Fraser University from 2019 to 2021, earning a Certificate in Community Economic Development.
