Richard Lu has had a varied work experience. In 2016, they served as an Associate Sports Editor and Copyeditor for the UCSD Guardian Newspaper. In 2017, they were a Student Manager at Roger's Market and Place for UC San Diego - Housing Dining Hospitality. In 2018, they were a Retail Sales Consultant for AT&T and a Media Buying Summer Intern for Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific. In 2020, they were an Account Executive for Auxilia. In 2021, they were a Line Cook for Harley's: A Hot Dog Revolution. Finally, in 2022, they are currently a Help Desk Support Technician for ENS Security and an Operations Manager for InTheWorksBeads in California.

Richard Lu obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from UC San Diego in 2019. In June 2022, they obtained a CompTIA Network+ certification from CompTIA.
