Nigel Smart

Nigel Smart serves as a Professor at COSIC (KU Leuven) since January 2018 and holds the position of Chief Academic Officer at Zama since April 2022. Additionally, Nigel Smart acts as an advisor for multiple companies, including Astran, Confidencial Inc., Dfns, Enveil, Optalysys, Cosmian, and previously for Cape Privacy. As a co-founder of Unbound Security, which focused on securing cryptographic keys through Multi-Party Computation and was acquired by Coinbase in January 2022, Nigel Smart contributed significantly to the field. Academic credentials include a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the University of Kent and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Reading.
