Alex Kainer

Alex Kainer is a skilled drilling engineer currently employed at EOG Resources since June 2025. Kainer has a diverse background in engineering mentorship and research during a tenure at The University of Texas at Austin, which included roles as a PEN Pals Mentor, First Year Interest Group Mentor, and Undergraduate Research Assistant from September 2022 to May 2025. Previous industry experience includes a position as a Reservoir Engineering Intern at EOG Resources in the summer of 2024, and internships at bp in facilities engineering in summer 2023 and the Texas Department of Transportation in summer 2022. Kainer also held leadership roles in professional organizations, serving as President of the American Association of Drilling Engineers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors, while representing students in the Student Engineering Council from May 2022 to May 2024. Kainer obtained a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 2025.
