Amanda Smith

Amanda Smith has a diverse work experience spanning from 2002 to 2022. Amanda began their career as a Patent and Trade Mark Attorney at Fisher Adams Kelly in 2002. In 2006, they took on the role of Manager, Commercialisation and Intellectual Property at UniQuest Pty Ltd and IMBcom Pty Ltd. From 2007 to 2013, they were the Director and Company (Corporate) Secretary at CCA Therapeutics, where they were responsible for developing the technology, raising capital and attracting potential commercial partners. From 2013 to 2016, they were the Manager Research - Innovation at Sanofi, where they provided scientific/medical direction to Consumer Healthcare (CHC) Division operations and product innovation. From 2016 to 2022, they were the Head of IP and Licensing at Horizon Discovery, a PerkinElmer Company, and was responsible for in and out licensing, technology scouting, IP and innovation management. Currently, they are the Chief Executive Officer at Pencil Biosciences Limited and the Head of IP at Epitopea.

Amanda Smith is currently pursuing a DPhil in neuroscience, physiology & pharmacology at the University of Oxford. Amanda previously obtained a Masters Intellectual Property Law from the University of Technology Sydney in 2005, and a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacology from The University of Manchester. Additionally, they hold a certification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
