Sophy Sun is a seasoned actuarial professional with extensive experience in reinsurance consulting and balance sheet management, currently serving as the Director, Senior Strategic Initiatives Consultant at Equitable since June 2025. Prior to this role, Sophy held various positions at Manulife from August 2019 to May 2025, including Associate Actuary and Manager of the US Liability Modeling Team, contributing to corporate development initiatives, reinsurance projects, and capital management. Recognized with the 2023 John Hancock Star of Excellence Award, Sophy also has a solid foundation in global variable annuity hedging and asset liability management. Sophy’s earlier career includes internships at notable companies such as Sun Life, Aviva Canada, and Conduent HR Services, as well as a role as Career Alumni Liaison for the University of Toronto Actuarial Science Club. Sophy earned an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Economics, and Environmental Chemistry from the University of Toronto, complemented by a high school diploma from the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China.
