Équité is a Sri Lankan organization dedicated to advancing human rights, LGBTIQ+ rights, and sexual and reproductive health and rights. We work closely with the Geneva human rights mechanisms and collaborate with government stakeholders across 9 provinces and 24 districts.

Our work involves advocating for an equitable society where individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, and socio-economic backgrounds have fair access to opportunities, resources, and a life of safety and dignity.

A central objective of our work is to achieve the decriminalization of same-sex relationships in Sri Lanka. Currently, the legal framework in our country criminalizes consensual same-sex activity, which poses a significant threat to the human rights and dignity of LGBTIQ+ individuals. We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to live authentically and without the threat of discrimination, violence, or marginalization.

Our work also encompasses various sectors, including employment, housing, healthcare, education, and access to public services, striving to secure recognition of LGBTIQ+ rights.
