Morteza Panbechi

Principal Engineer I

Mr. Panbechi has over 25 years of engineering experience in metallurgical, mechanical, and corrosion engineering including extensive background in mechanical integrity, process industry material selection, degradation mechanism determinations, welding engineering, equipment fabrication/ design/repair, FFS assessments, NDE testing for fabrication, quality systems review, and primary metallurgy. He has managed a department of engineers, inspectors, and other professionals including NDE staff to establish and maintain mechanical integrity of fixed equipment and piping in major oil refineries.

Mr. Panbechi has led several petrochemical power plant projects for the leading names in the industry, including Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell. He revised HTHA programs based on the API 941 latest revision for HDC, hydrogen plants, and HDT units. He developed and performed advanced NDE including high-sensitivity WFMT, TFM-PA, and AE. He also developed a grassroots project for Olin Chlor Alkali Projects, a chemical plant, for which he developed mechanical FEED and detail design engineering, material selection, coating specification, inspection, and testing plan for specialty equipment packages.

Mr. Panbechi has also led alternative energy projects including a cellulosic ethanol plant project. He developed mechanical performance specification and provided material selection, technical design requirements, vendor assessment, and criticality rating.

Mr. Panbechi has been with E2G | The Equity Engineering Group, Inc. since 2023 with the West Coast Mechanical Integrity Team. He provides DMRs, RBI assessments, inspection and test plans, troubleshooting, problem solving, and emergency technical support for chemical plants, upstream facilities, power plants, and refineries worldwide. He also offers onsite engineering support for plant equipment damage assessments, repair and revamp projects, and overseeing metallurgical failure analysis. Throughout his career, Mr. Panbechi has received several accolades including being nominated for the Annual Gold Medal from Ryerson University for his thesis on GRP/CFRP fatigue damage assessment model. He is a member of Task Groups for API 941 and API 586.
