Johnson Fernandes is the Founder and CEO of equiwatt, a cleantech company focused on revolutionizing energy use in homes. Johnson has been with the company since November 2015. Prior to that, they worked as a Postgraduate Researcher at Newcastle University from October 2011 to October 2015, and as a Postgraduate Demonstrator from February 2012 to April 2015. In 2008, they were a Summer Intern at Dowell Schlumberger Corp., where they designed and presented a wireless solution for a data acquisition system. In 2007, they worked as a Trainee at PROSOUND, which is part of the Ahuja Group of Companies.
Johnson Fernandes has a strong educational background in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. From 2011 to 2017, they pursued a PhD at Newcastle University. Prior to that, they completed an MSc in Mobile and Pervasive Computing from the same university, spanning from 2009 to 2010. In 2005, Johnson earned a B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. Before their undergraduate studies, they completed the AISSCE (All India Senior School Certificate Examination) from United Indian School, Kuwait in 2005.
