John O’Brien

John O'Brien is the current President at ERA and has previously worked at National Grid and Washington Gas. At National Grid, John was the Vice President of Corporate Affairs (Interim) from January 2021 to October 2021. In this role, John distributed natural gas to 20M NY, RI, and Mass. customers and generated 4160 MW of electricity to NY with $14B global revenue. At Washington Gas, John was the Executive Vice President of Strategy & Public Affairs from January 2018 to December 2020. In this role, John oversaw rates, federal government relations, regulatory compliance, legislative affairs, public relations, and economic development for a utility with $700M in non-gas revenue. John also lead strategy to improve revenue to be aligned with allowed return on equity (ROE) by optimizing rate-making, capital, and operating budgets.

John O'Brien attended Brown University, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs. John then attended Suffolk University Law School, where they earned their Doctor of Law. John is currently certified by the Massachusetts State Bar Association in Bar Admission: Massachusetts.

John O’Brien reports to Walter Tobin, CEO. They work with Sager Electronics - SVP, Distributor, Susan Bannwart - Director, Finance, and Tom Griffin - SVP, Fiscal & Legal.
