Tyler Long is a Transmission Planning Engineer at ERCOT since January 2014, specializing in long-term reliability studies for the Texas electric power grid, ensuring compliance with NERC Standards and ERCOT Protocols. Earlier roles at ERCOT include Operations Engineer, where Tyler contributed to developing custom applications for efficiency, and Shift Engineer, providing critical 24/7 support in the control room. Tyler has also served as Electrical Engineer, completing an engineering development program focusing on system knowledge and technical skills. Prior experience includes internships as a Transmission Planning Engineer at Tucson Electric Power and as an Optical Engineer at the Air Force Research Laboratory. Tyler has been an active member of IEEE and led a capstone project at New Mexico State University, designing an Intelligent White Cane for enhancing mobility for visually impaired individuals.
