Jan Mertens currently serves as the Head of Global R&D at Ericsson Antenna Systems, a position held since January 2023. Prior to this, Jan Mertens held various leadership roles at Bosch from July 2016 to December 2022, focusing on LiDAR development and automated driving sensors. Jan's academic career includes a post-doctoral research associate position at the University of Cambridge, where research centered on nano-scale light interaction with metallic structures. Jan Mertens also contributed as a visiting research scientist at the University of Toronto and worked in technology consulting related to nanotechnology. Jan holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Cambridge, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in Physics from The Philipp University of Marburg.
