Senior Software Engineer at EROAD

William To is a highly experienced software engineer with a diverse range of roles and responsibilities throughout their career. Starting in 2004, they worked as a Software Engineer at Macroview Telecom Limited and Sun Cupid Industries Limited. In 2005, they transitioned to become a Field Application Engineer at Cactus Technologies Limited, providing technical support for industrial-grade flash storage products.

In 2008, William joined Group Sense Ltd. as an Electronics Engineer, where they focused on the development and maintenance of system-level software for embedded Linux-based electronic dictionaries. During their time there, they worked on projects such as the Sharp RD-CR/CX/CT series Electronic Dictionaries, completing tasks such as backporting the UBI file system driver to older Linux kernel and modifying multimedia player software.

In 2010, William moved to BII Transit Systems (HK) Co. Ltd., formerly known as ERG Transit Systems Limited, as a Software Engineer. William successfully completed multiple projects for Automatic Fare Collection via Contactless Card Payment solutions, adhering to the IEEE standard for Software Development Life Cycle.

From 2018 to 2020, William worked as a Senior Application Developer at m-FINANCE Limited, where they focused on implementing MetaTrader 4 trading platform plug-ins and gateways in various languages and platforms. Additionally, they provided support for mobile and desktop trading terminals on Android, iOS, and Windows Presentation Foundation.

More recently, in 2020, William joined Quantifi Photonics as a Software Engineer. Here, they completed the implementation and testing of photonics testing and measurement instrument modules on LabView and National Instruments PXI test and measurements platform and standalone embedded Linux platforms. One of their notable accomplishments during their time there was completing the architectural design for a wavelength-tuneable laser filter.

In 2023, William To joined EROAD as a Senior Software Engineer.

William To completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Auckland from 1998 to 2001. William then pursued further education and acquired a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at The University of Auckland from 2002 to 2003.
