Steven Harper

Steven Harper is an experienced workshop leader and facilitator with an extensive background in mindfulness and Zen practice, serving at the Esalen Institute and Steven Harper Associates since 1979. Harper has co-led retreats at the Tassajara Zen Mountain Center since 1981, working with prominent senior teachers in the Soto Zen tradition. Additionally, Harper held leadership roles in outdoor education from 1977 to 1998, including serving as a course leader at the National Outdoor Leadership School and as an instructor at the Colorado Outward Bound School, where collaboration on professional development programs enhanced team building and leadership skills for corporate clients. Harper holds a Master's degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University and has pursued education at the Esalen Institute from 1978 to 2024.
