Olaf Nehlich has a diverse work experience across various roles and industries. Olaf began their career in 1999 at Papaspyrou biotechnologie GmbH as a Lab-technician and Assistant to Controlling Management. Olaf then worked at the Max-Planck-Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology as a postdoc from 2009 to 2011. Following this, they joined The University of British Columbia as a postdoctoral fellow and later as a Postdoctoral Fellow of the German Science Foundation from 2011 to 2014. In 2014, Nehlich joined Imprint Analytics GmbH as a Senior Laboratory Research Analyst, where they worked until 2016. Currently, they are the Head of Vendor Assurance at esarom gmbh, a position they have held since 2016.

Olaf Nehlich pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their time at the Lise-Meitner School in Berlin, Germany, from 1995 to 1998. Here, they completed a lab-technician program, focusing on the field of Biology. Afterward, they attended the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2001 to 2006, where they earned their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Anthropology. In 2006, Olaf began their Ph.D. journey simultaneously at Leipzig University and the Max-Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology. Olaf completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in 2009, specializing in Biology/Biological Sciences and Anthropology.
