Jasper Aerts

Jasper Aerts serves as Deputy General Counsel and Team Lead for Lending Operations at the European Stability Mechanism since September 2012. Aerts has a diverse background in international finance and legal affairs, having worked as a (Visiting) Assistant General Counsel at the International Monetary Fund during a secondment from September 2022 to September 2023. Prior experience includes roles at ING Bank N.V. from 2006 to 2012, where Aerts advanced from Head of Global Legal Services to Director of the Restructuring Team. Aerts began a legal career as a Lawyer at Fort Advocaten from 2001 to 2006. Academic qualifications encompass a Master of Arts in EU Law and various leadership and legal training programs from prestigious institutions, including King's College London and The Wharton School.
