Daniel Mendes

Daniel Mendes is a seasoned professional in the field of financial regulation and international cooperation. Currently serving as a Cooperation Officer for International & Institutional Affairs at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) since March 2021, Mendes facilitates collaborations with global financial institutions and advises on regulatory developments. Previously, Mendes held the role of Director of Market Practice and Regulatory Policy at the International Capital Market Association, where oversight of the Regulatory Policy Committee was a key responsibility. Mendes also worked as a Legal Analyst at the European Central Bank, advising on prudential regulation, and started with ESMA as a Governance and External Affairs Trainee. The legal career began at Machado, Meyer, Sendacz e Opice Advogados, providing taxation and legal services to a diverse clientele. Academically, Mendes holds an LLM in Law and Economics from Utrecht University and an LLB from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
