Jim Barry has extensive experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and business development, currently serving as a Senior Solution Engineer for Railroads at Esri since 1994. Barry has held various roles at Esri, including GeoDeveloper Advocate and Manager of Developer Evangelism, where responsibilities encompassed community support, outreach, and technology adoption. Prior to Esri, Barry worked as a Land Use Planner for the Town of Simsbury, a GIS Technician at Northeast Utilities, and a Manager of Plant Operations at Jorgensen Steel & Aluminum. Jim Barry began a career in the military as an Infantry Officer in the US Army, achieving the rank of Captain. Barry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master’s degree in Geography from Central Connecticut State University.
