Michael Hicks

Michael Hicks has 28 years of work experience. From 1993-2018, they worked as an English Teacher at the Los Angeles Unified School District. In 2018, they became the Founder/CEO of Essaypop and a Co-Founder at the same company. Michael's role as Founder/CEO was to teach students to read, write, and publish, and their role as Co-Founder was informed by their understanding that young writers become most engaged when they work closely with their peers. Michael's passion for writing instruction was inspired by meeting kids who had so much to express, and it was their pride and joy to introduce them to the skills that allowed them to tell their stories well.

Michael Hicks attended California State University, Chico from 1983 to 1987, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/English.
