Yan Wu

Yan Wu is a senior research engineer at ESS, Inc., with over 15 years of experience in product research and development focused on energy storage and conversion applications, including Li-ion and flow batteries. They have expertise in material design and characterization, electrochemical analysis, and failure analysis, leading significant projects that meet stringent performance and cost targets. Previously, Yan held roles as a senior research scientist at General Motors, where they drove the development of high energy density cathode materials and set up prototype fabrication labs. Yan holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, alongside a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University in the same field.
