Koen Vanlaer

Koen Vanlaer has a strong background in banking and finance law. Koen started their career as an Associate at Allen & Overy in 2007 and worked on various legal matters until 2013. Koen then joined Deloitte Legal as a Senior Associate, specializing in banking and finance, from 2013 to 2015. After that, they took on the role of Senior Associate at Baker & McKenzie for a brief period of time in 2015. Continuing their career, Koen joined Allen & Overy again as a Senior Associate in banking and finance from 2015 to 2018. From 2018 to 2023, they worked at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where they started as a Principal Associate and then became a Counsel, focusing on banking and finance transactions. In 2023, they joined Etex as the Head of Legal for North & Central Europe.

Koen Vanlaer completed their LL.M. degree in Banking & Financial Law at UCL in 2007. Prior to that, they obtained a Licentiaat/Master degree in Rechten from KU Leuven in 2006. Their earlier education includes completing a Latin-Mathematics program at Sint-Janscollege Meldert from 1995 to 2001.
