Karen Beets is currently a Senior Scientist in vitro Pharmacology at etherna, a position held since 2023. They completed a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven, where they focused on the BMP-SMAD signaling in lymphatic endothelial cells from 2012 to 2016. Prior to their current role, they served as a Senior Scientist in in vitro Biology specializing in Fibrosis at Galapagos from 2022 to 2023 and worked as a Scientist at Oxurion NV from 2018 to 2021. Beets also earned both a Master’s degree and a Master thesis in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven between 2006 and 2011.
