We, at EthicalTech Ideell Förening, believe that datafication, the reduction of human beings to data sets, and the resulting dehumanisation are fundamentally incompatible with human dignity, as enshrined in the Charter of Human Rights. EthicalTech is a non-profit association fully committed to promoting and upholding the principles of ethical and responsible technology. These principles include: (1) respect for human autonomy, (2) prevention of harm, (3) fairness, and (4) explicability.
EthicalTech Ideell Förening advocates for human rights–centred approaches in the design and development of digital systems, services, and infrastructures, aiming to minimise the harmful consequences of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.
As these technologies increasingly shape societies and economies, EthicalTech works to raise public awareness, promote digital literacy, and ensure that human dignity, justice, equality, and inclusion are central to technology design and deployment. Our mission goes beyond principles. We actively confront systemic challenges such as global inequality, data exploitation, and the dehumanisation of individuals by digital systems and platforms. We strive to ensure that technological progress benefits
everyone, not just the privileged few. EthicalTech is also committed to exposing the negative societal impacts of emerging technologies through whistleblowing and by informing civil society, NGOs, and national or international human rights organisations.
