Matt Smith

Matt Smith began their work experience as a Network Test Specialist at Ethoca in 2022. Prior to that, they had a long tenure at BlackBerry, where they held various roles. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as a Network Test Specialist, gaining experience in testing network devices and managing a VMware environment. Matt then became a Systems Administrator from 2010 to 2013, managing a pre-production VMware environment and expanding their knowledge in areas such as storage, system imaging, and IP allocation. From 2013 to 2014, they served as a Systems Administrator II, taking on additional responsibilities in the design and implementation of new data centers. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Storage Administrator II, and from 2016 to 2019, they were an Infrastructure Specialist II, focusing on the design and maintenance of Ceph RADOS Block Device (RBD) clusters and virtualization clusters. Finally, from 2019 to 2022, they held the position of Senior Infrastructure Specialist, where they continued to work on infrastructure projects and performed cost analysis.

Matt Smith attended Fanshawe College from 2002 to 2004, where they studied Multimedia Design and Production. Matt then went on to pursue a degree in Computer Systems Technology at Fanshawe College from 2005 to 2008. In terms of certifications, Matt Smith obtained various certifications including the AWS Certified Developer - Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate from Amazon Web Services in February 2017. Matt also obtained the VMware Certified Professional 5 - Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV) certification from VMware in 2015.
