Kierra Gambrell

Assistant Principal at Ethos Classical

Kierra Gambrell has extensive experience in the field of education. Kierra is currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Ethos Classical since 2019. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing special education compliance, managing a scholar support team, leading family advisory committee meetings, designing and coordinating scholar events, and supervising the implementation of socio-emotional learning practices.

Prior to that, Kierra worked at KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools from 2017 to 2019. During their time there, they served as a Founding RTI Coordinator and Third Grade Lead Teacher. As an RTI Coordinator, they designed and implemented Tier 2 interventions for students identified for the Response to Intervention process. As a Lead Teacher, they taught the KIPP Wheatley literacy curriculum, implemented a digital writing lab, and organized writing competitions to increase student engagement. Kierra also acquired funds for instructional resources and provided professional development on instructional technology.

Kierra has also held positions at Purpose Built Communities, Latin College Prep Charter School, and Atlanta Public Schools. At Purpose Built Communities, they worked as a Summer Mentor Teacher. At Latin College Prep Charter School, they served as a Lead Special Education Teacher. At Atlanta Public Schools, they worked as a Special Education Teacher and Behavior Intervention Specialist, as well as an Extended School Year Tutor.

Additionally, Kierra has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Kennesaw State University and served as a Teach For America Corps Member.

Kierra Gambrell has a strong educational background in special education and teaching. Kierra completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Criminal Justice at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2008 to 2012. Kierra then pursued further education at Kennesaw State University, where they obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Special Education and Teaching from 2014 to 2016.

Gambrell also acquired several additional certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field. In 2012, they obtained the Clear and Renewable Certificate in Special Education and Teaching from Metropolitan RESA GA TAPP. Kierra further expanded their expertise by earning various certifications from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, including Special Education General Curriculum, P-12, Special Education Languge Arts Cognitive Level P-5, 6-8, Special Education Reading Cognitive Level P-5, 6-8, Special Education Science Cognitive Level P-5, 6-8, Special Education Social Science Cognitive Level P-5, 6-8, and Special Education Mathematics Cognitive Level P-5, 6-8, all in July 2012.

Additionally, Gambrell pursued specialized training through the Relay Graduate School of Education, earning an Inclusive Leader Fellowship in June 2022. Kierra also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder from Kennesaw State University in May 2016 and a Reading Endorsement from Georgia Professional Standards Commission in May 2015.
