Emma Bunker has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and IT support. Emma started their career as a Desktop Support Assistant at Boston University Information Services and Technology in September 2017 and worked until January 2021. In this role, Emma diagnosed and repaired computer software issues for students, staff, and alumni, and provided imaging, inventory, and asset management services for university-owned devices.
In September 2019, Emma joined Boston University Network Operations as a Network Architecture and Engineering Intern. During their time there, they wrote scripts in Python to extract data from multiple databases and improve database structure. Their work aimed to make information more easily accessible for the technology staff. Emma worked in this role until May 2020.
In June 2020, Emma joined General Dynamics Mission Systems as a Software Engineering Intern. During their internship, they designed and built an automated testing solution for a web application using Ruby, Selenium, and command line scripting. Additionally, Emma contributed to the development of enterprise-level remote encryptor management software. Emma held this position until June 2021.
From June 2021 to June 2023, Emma continued their journey with General Dynamics Mission Systems as a Software Engineer I. In this role, they designed, implemented, and tested enhancements to an encryption protocol used on inline network encryptors using UML and C++. Emma focused on improving protocol implementation to eliminate data loss during key rollover. Emma was also responsible for embedded software development and maintenance on high-assurance network encryptors.
Currently, Emma is a Data Engineer at Etiometry Inc. starting from May 2023, where they use their skills to contribute to the data engineering projects within the company.
Emma Bunker completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Boston University from 2017 to 2021.
