Hao Xu

Hao Xu is a Senior Applied Scientist II with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where they also completed their Master’s degree and served as a Graduate Research Assistant. With six years of professional experience in applied machine learning, Hao has developed end-to-end solutions for large-scale imbalanced data modeling and has expertise across the entire ML lifecycle, including statistical analysis and anomaly detection. Xu has held roles at Global Atlantic Financial Group, Bayer Crop Science, and Visa, where they led various machine learning initiatives and collaborated with multiple stakeholders. They are currently working at Etsy, contributing to recommendation ranking systems, and are also a new parent.
