Joel Battle has worked in a variety of roles across several companies since 2010. In 2010, they worked as an SJC Intern at Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, where they maintained computers, desktops, laptops, and servers with senior IT professionals, performed set-up for various events, and assisted facilities staff in care for the building. In 2012, they worked at The Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Government of the District of Columbia as a Citywide Data Warehouse Maintenance, assisting senior members of the Citywide Data Warehouse team in the design and development of data transparency applications. In 2013, they worked at BRMi as a Recruitment and Admin Assistant, working in SharePoint to produce forms, libraries, and workflows for applicant tracking, and to host a virtual, live updated recruitment report. Joel also worked at Little Lantern Guide as a Web Content Manager and Logistics, providing a comfortable online and mobile website user experience using the Joomla! CMS platform, controlling and developing content, performing business accounting, logistics, and management functions for all Little Lantern accounts, and managing Little Lantern social media content. In 2016, they worked at The Office of the Chief Technology Officer, Government of the District of Columbia as a Tier I Desktop Support Technician, managing client domain and Microsoft Exchange accounts through a district specific Active Roles directory and directly through the Active Directory console, and performing troubleshooting for hardware and software issues for clients including device networking and configuration, MS Office 2010/2013/2016 solutions, and system reimaging. Joel also worked as an ITServus/OCTOhelps Intern, assisting CRM managers with administrative tasks and call center technicians with troubleshoot tickets. In 2016, they worked at IT Computer Wiz Kids as a Help Desk Manager/Jr. Instructor, assisting in the logical design and maintenance of help desk initiatives sponsored by IT Computer WIZ Kids, assisting help desk customers with hardware, software, and other desktop and laptop related technical issues, and instructing help desk student trainees in customer service and technical hardware and software skills. Finally, in 2018, they worked at Empowerment through Technology & Education, Inc. as an Information Technology Support Technician I, providing on-site and remote support to a range of clients, including support for desktop, mobile, and server environments, cloud-based applications, and firewalls, and preparing and deploying firewalls using pfSense to provide networks security for clients and facilitate VPN traffic to virtualized/thin client remote desktop environments.
Joel Battle is currently studying for a Computer Science - BS at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Joel previously attended the University of Maryland, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Computer Science. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) in Computer Science from Montgomery College. Joel also attended the University of Windsor, where they studied Mechanical Engineering.
