Marcel Dobber has over 20 years of experience in the field of instrument and calibration system engineering for various space applications. Marcel started their career at SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research, where they worked as a Calibration System Engineer from December 1994 to February 1998. Marcel then joined TNO as an Instrument and Calibration System Engineer, where they focused on the development of generic calibration methods and facilities for space applications. Marcel worked at TNO from March 1998 to December 2000. Marcel then joined KNMI as an OMI Instrument & Calibration System Engineer, where they were involved in the performance assessment and development of calibration, data processing, and operations approach for NASA's EOS-AURA Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI). Marcel worked at KNMI from January 2001 to March 2010. Currently, they are working at EUMETSAT as a System Engineer, primarily responsible for the Instrument System Engineering for Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) instruments Lightning Imager (LI) and Copernicus Sentinel-4 Ultraviolet-Visible-Near-Infrared (UVN) spectrometer. Marcel'sroles include assessing and linking instrument performance, calibration, data processing, and operations aspects. Marcel also estimates and budgets the system performance at different levels in view of all applicable requirements.
Marcel Dobber obtained their Master of Science (MS) in Physics from the Free University Amsterdam, where they studied from 1985 to 1990. Following this, they pursued a PhD in Physics at the University of Amsterdam from 1990 to 1994.
