Metop/metop-sg Spacecraft Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT

Matteo M. has a strong background in spacecraft operations and engineering. Matteo started their career as an intern at THALES ALENIA SPACE, where they focused on studying real-time steering algorithms and modeling an Attitude Control System for an Earth observation mission. Matteo then joined the REXUS-7 Program as a Thermal/Structural Engineer.

Afterwards, Matteo transitioned to LSE Space GmbH, where they worked as a Galileo Spacecraft Operations Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for the Data Handling, Payload, and TT&C Systems of the IOV and FOC Galileo satellites. Matteo also served as the Team Leader of the DHS/PAY/TTC Engineering Team, providing 24/7 support to the Galileo Constellation. Matteo's time at LSE Space GmbH ended in 2021.

Currently, Matteo is employed at EUMETSAT as a MetOp/MetOp-SG Spacecraft Operations Engineer. Matteo is primarily responsible for the EPS constellation and the Platform of the MetOp Satellites. Matteo handles tasks such as data handling, TT&C subsystems, on-board software maintenance, and acts as a backup engineer for power, thermal, and AOCS subsystems.

Matteo M. has a Master's Degree in Astronautical Engineering from the School of Aerospace Engineering at Università degli Studi di Roma 'La Sapienza', which they obtained from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering from Sapienza Università di Roma, from 2006 to 2008.

In terms of additional certifications, Matteo has an Italian professional qualification as Industrial Engineer from Università di Roma "La Sapienza", which they obtained in April 2012. Matteo also has a BLS-D (Basic Life Support - Defibrillation) certification from Associazione "Ulisse" per le scienze mediche e chirurgiche, obtained in December 2011. Furthermore, they hold a Wood Badge certification, which is a Scout leader certification, from A.G.E.S.C.I. - WOSM, obtained in October 2010.
