The European Chips Design Platform is being developed to strengthen Europe’s semiconductor innovation ecosystem, with a focus on supporting fabless startups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and research organizations.

Established under the European Chips Act, the platform will provide cloud-based access to semiconductor design tools, intellectual property (IP) libraries, training programs, pilot line technologies, and funding support services.
The platform’s goal is to democratize chip design by lowering technical and financial barriers, accelerating innovation, and fostering the growth of new and existing semiconductor companies across Europe.

Developed by a consortium of leading European research and innovation organizations and coordinated by imec, the platform is scheduled to become operational in 2026.

The European Chips Design Platform will offer:
📐 Access to commercial and open-source EDA tools and IP
🏭 Integration with European pilot lines for chip fabrication, packaging, and testing
🎓 Training, mentoring, and startup acceleration programs
🏦 Support for securing capital and navigating the semiconductor value chain

We aim to contribute to Europe's technological sovereignty by enabling a vibrant, accessible, and competitive semiconductor design environment and a digital marketplace for IC design knowhow and services.
