Dirk Schaefer has extensive experience in the aviation sector, currently serving as a U-space concept developer and holding several leadership roles at EUROCONTROL since July 2000, including General Co-Chair of the ATM R&D Seminar and Programme Chair of the SESAR Innovation Days. Additionally, Dirk leads long-term and innovative research projects within the SESAR SWP E.02 and has held positions as a Quality and Excellence Manager and Human Factors Expert. Prior to EUROCONTROL, Dirk was an ATC Simulation Expert at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) from October 1998 to June 2000, overseeing the ATC simulation group. Dirk holds a Doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from Bundeswehr University Munich and a Diploma in Aerospace Engineering from RWTH Aachen University.
