Michael Schmid

Michael Schmid is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in public prosecution and international justice. Currently serving as the National Member for Austria at Eurojust since April 2022, Schmid has held multiple significant positions within the organization, including Vice-Chair of the Counter Terrorism Team and Deputy National Member for Austria. In addition to this role, Schmid has been a Public Prosecutor at Staatsanwaltschaft Wien since November 2011. Prior to their current tenure at Eurojust, Schmid worked as the Justice and Home Affairs Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Austria to the EU. Schmid's legal career began as a Judge Candidate at Oberlandesgericht Wien, and earlier roles include paralegal and intern positions at Graf & Pitkowitz Rechtsanwälte GmbH. Schmid holds a Master of Science in Crime and Criminal Justice from Leiden University and a Magister in Law from the University of Vienna.
