Ignacio Alvarez

Dr. Ignacio Alvarez has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Ignacio currently serves as the Head of Clinical Development Oncology at Recordati Rare Diseases Inc. since September 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as the Global Medical Director at EUSA Pharma starting in December 2020.

From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Alvarez held multiple positions at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., including Senior Medical Director, Senior Medical Director of Global Medical Affairs, Director of Global Medical Affairs, and Director of Medical Affairs EUMEA.

Before joining BioMarin, they worked as the Medical Director of Metabolic Diseases at Alexion Pharmaceuticals from 2013 to 2016. Prior to that, they served as the Senior Medical Manager at Merck Serono from 2007 to 2012 and held the position of Medical Director at Rottapharm from 2004 to 2007.

Dr. Alvarez began their career as a Medical Manager and Medical Advisor at Schering España from 2003 to 2006.

Ignacio Alvarez, MD pursued their education in Medicine and Surgery at Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 1986 to 1994 and obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
