The global shift toward electric vehicles (EVs) is reshaping the transportation landscape, moving away from fossil fuels and internal combustion engines. While Europe led the way, Pakistan has now begun embracing this crucial change, driven by evolving policies and growing environmental awareness.

Objectives
The Government of Pakistan’s New Energy Vehicles (NEV) Policy 2025-30, launched in July 2025, aims to reduce vehicular emissions, improve air quality, utilize excess electricity production, and decrease oil imports.

The policy also encourages development of a competitive local NEV industry, technology transfer, green job creation, and coordinated federal-province collaboration for sustainable transportation.
