Sean Murphy

Sean Murphy, PhD, CCISO, CISSP, CIPT, ISSMP, HCISPP, serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at BECU since March 2019, overseeing a $30M cybersecurity program that encompasses Cybersecurity Architecture, Engineering, and Security Operations for a large credit union. In addition to this role, Sean is an Adjunct Faculty member at Columbia Southern University and the University of Washington Bothell, focusing on Information Security. Sean's professional contributions extend to participation in the Seattle CISO Governing Body and as an Advisory Board Member for the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS), where efforts are directed towards enhancing the CISO role in healthcare. Previous positions include Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer at Premera Blue Cross, successfully elevating cybersecurity maturity, and key leadership roles at Leidos and SAIC, where significant contracts in healthcare IT were secured. Sean holds a PhD in Computer and Information Systems Security and multiple advanced degrees in IT and Healthcare Administration.
