Devan Lai

Embedded Software Engineer at EverCharge

Devan Lai has a strong background in firmware and software development. They started their career as an Intern at Cisco Systems, Inc. in 2007. They then worked at UC Berkeley Solar Car Team as a Member of the Telemetry and Analysis team, where they designed a telemetry system and developed a custom interface using Python and Qt.

In 2011, Devan joined UC Berkeley Solar Vehicle Team (CalSol) as the Data Team Lead, overseeing projects to improve Telemetry and Race Strategy systems for their car designs. They implemented features such as telemetry over wifi, dynamic on-car packet filtering, and an in-browser analysis interface over websockets.

Devan continued their education at UC Berkeley and held various programming roles at UC Berkeley, including Lead Programmer for SA-IT and Programmer for RSSP-IT.

In 2013, Devan joined Agilent Technologies as a Software Development Engineer, and later moved to Keysight Technologies in 2014, where they worked as a Software Development Engineer. In these roles, they wrote firmware for RF signal generators and developed new features in C++.

From 2017 to 2023, Devan worked at Davis Instruments as a Senior Firmware Engineer. Their responsibilities included writing firmware in C for weather and agricultural products, collaborating with backend and mobile teams, and working on all aspects of firmware development.

Currently, Devan Lai is an Embedded Software Engineer at EverCharge, starting in 2023.

Devan Lai attended Saratoga High School from 2005 to 2009, where they did not earn a degree or specialize in any particular field of study. Subsequently, from 2009 to 2013, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at the University of California, Berkeley.
