Keith Magnus

Co-Chairman, Asia at Evercore

Keith Magnus is co-Chairman, Asia, and Senior Managing Director at Evercore. He was appointed to establish Evercore’s office in Singapore in 2013 as its Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Magnus quickly built Evercore’s presence in the region, securing the prestigious title of Best M&A Adviser in Singapore for three consecutive years (2015, 2016 and 2017) at the Asset Triple Awards, an achievement unparalleled by any other investment bank. To date at Evercore he has personally originated and advised on over S$35 billion worth of transactions with a double digit number of them over S$ 1 billion each in deal value. Anchored by this and other activity in Asia, Evercore also secured the title of Best Independent Advisory Firm in Asia in 2016. He was referred to as a “star investment banker” by the Business Times in Singapore in 2017.

Prior to joining Evercore, Mr. Magnus was for over a decade leading investment banking practices at bulge bracket firms that won numerous country awards for best Foreign Investment Bank in Singapore and numerous landmark deal awards. He is the youngest Singaporean in recent years to have headed an investment banking business for a major bulge bracket firm in a major financial centre, when he was appointed Country Head of Investment Banking at Deutsche Bank at age 30. Mr. Magnus was prior to Evercore the Chairman and Head of UBS’ Investment Bank in Singapore and Malaysia whose responsibility included overseeing the investment bank’s activities in the region. Prior to UBS, he was Managing Director and Head of Singapore and Malaysia Investment Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was recognized by Reuters as one of Merrill Lynch’s “top-performing bankers”. Mr. Magnus started his banking career at JPMorgan Chase.

Mr. Magnus has garnered a track record of originating and executing numerous landmark deals in Asia and has won over 20 deal awards by leading industry publications. Mr. Magnus has extensive M&A advisory and equity and debt capital markets experience having advised on over 110 transactions and close to S$100 billion worth of deals many of which have won industry awards for thought leadership and execution. He has advised some of the region’s most blue chip companies, financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds and billionaires in the region on their most important transactions.

Mr. Magnus for 11 years served as a Finance Committee Chairman/ Member of Sentosa Development Corporation (under the Ministry of Trade and Industry), and for seven years as a board member Sentosa Development Corporation (a committee member since 2007). Active in the community, he serves as board member of the NTU MBA Advisory Council, Centre for Fathering (“Dads for Life”) under the Ministry of Social and Family Development, Chairman of the Anglo-Chinese School PSG, Chairman of Alpha Singapore, is member of the NUS International Medicine Council, and serves on the Football Association of Singapore’s Governance Task Force. He is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation. Mr. Magnus has double degrees in Economics (Finance and Accountancy) and Laws from Monash University in Melbourne, where he was a prize winner.
