Gianna Gurga

Gianna Gurga has a diverse work experience in various fields. Gianna started their career as a Footwear Associate at Dick's Sporting Goods in 2008 and worked there until 2012. In 2011, they also served as a Tournament Organizer for The Wayton Open.

Gianna then transitioned into the education sector, starting as a Family and Consumer Sciences Educator for the Board of Education from 2012 to 2015. During this time, they taught a range of life skills and aimed to inspire and motivate their students.

Gianna continued their career in education as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Wallingford Public Schools from 2015 to 2022. In this role, they developed and implemented curriculum aligned to national standards and provided professional development to teachers and administrators.

During their tenure at Wallingford Public Schools, Gianna took on additional roles such as an Administrator Intern at Dag Hammarskjold Middle School from 2019 to 2020. Gianna provided leadership in the absence of building administrators, designed and launched a Junior Bridge Academy program, and coached teachers on effective classroom management.

Gianna also had experience as a Youth Ministry Coordinator at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception from 2017 to 2018.

Outside of their education career, Gianna worked as an Assistant Girl's Tennis Coach at Crosby High School from 2008 to 2015. Gianna also served as a Teacher Ambassador for EVERFI from 2019 onwards, promoting educational programs.

In 2022, Gianna joined Simsbury High School as a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher. Gianna is dedicated to their students' learning and growth. Additionally, they worked as an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Inc. from 2013 onwards and became an Advanced Color Consultant.

Lastly, Gianna has been a Zumba Fitness Instructor for Zumba Fitness LLC since 2011. Gianna prioritizes and encourages a high-energy workout experience for their participants.

Gianna Gurga completed their high school education at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, CT from 2003 to 2007, receiving a high school diploma. Gianna then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a focus on Family and Consumer Science, at Saint Joseph College from 2007 to 2011. In 2013, Gianna obtained a Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology from Post University, where they studied until 2015. Later, in 2018, Gianna enrolled at Central Connecticut State University and completed a Sixth Year program in Educational Leadership, which they finished in 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Gianna has obtained several certifications. In January 2022, they received the certifications of Edpuzzle Coach, Google Classroom, Level 1, and Level 2 from Edpuzzle institution.
